My parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernesto Ventura, have always been very proud about being Filipinos (Ilocanos). They make sure that my siblings and I remember our roots, and are proud of who we are and where we came from - San Juan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Moving to the U.S.A. at an early age, I have adjusted and learned the American ways. Simultaneously, I have kept the values that were taught to me by my parents and grand parents. All my life, I have been proud to say, "Yes, I was born in a little town called San Juan, Ilocos Sur, and I practice the Pilipino/Ilocano culture."

Wow! This web page is so wonderful! It feels so good to be able to look back on our past, our roots... It may not provide the complete picture of our town, but it has helped me to begin to appreciate our town and her people. I am so thankful because you have devoted much of your time to give people like me the opportunity to start knowing my roots. I want you to know that it makes me so proud to know that a part of me is Lapoguenio! Thank you, and more power! I congratulate you for all your efforts!

I enjoy visiting this page. Sometimes it makes me feel homesick and sometimes it just gives me great pleasure just to look at it. I remember things that I did as a little girl when I was growing up in Lapog. I learned a lot from this page, especially facts that happened in Lapog. I've forgotten about the massacre incident in Barbar, San Juan, Ilocos Sur, but after seeing this page, it made me remember what happened at that time. And also when I saw the picture of Pikkang Falls it reminded me when I was a little girl. I said to myself... I slept on that side of the falls. And now I'm very proud to show my Canadian friends where I came from in the Philippines. They are very curious when I show them what I took by video cam/pictures when I went home for a holiday. Thanks for sharing this page to fellow Lapoguenios as well as other peoples of the world.

Ang galing! It was great to know we can now get the feel of home on the Internet ...we were so excited to see all about it...such a fantastic idea!!  I am sure it brought a lot of good old memories to everyone who hasn't been home for a while. I loved 'the good old days' section ... (congratulations for a job very well done..).  We hope to see a lot more happening in the 'Lapog webpages'.

This is superb.  At least for now, Lapoguenos around the world can access basic information about our town at the click of the mouse.
